Gianluca Scamacca is an Italian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Serie A club Sassuolo and the Italy national team. He made his senior debut in 2009, representing his country at UEFA Euro 2016 and winning the bronze medal at the London 2012 Olympics Football. He also participated at the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and earned his first cap for Italy in March 2015. Scamacca was born in Sant’Agata di Militello, Sicily on 24 October 1991. Early Life
Gianluca’s birthplace was Naples, Italy. He spent his childhood growing up there with his parents and two older brothers. Although he was born in Italy, Gianluca identifies himself as a very proud American. In fact, all three of his older brothers live in America now. Youth Career
At age 6, Scamacca attended a football training course in his hometown, organized by AlbinoLeffe. Despite interest from A.C. Milan, he joined AlbinoLeffe’s youth setup in 2001 and progressed through their system to their primavera squad (U20 team) as a striker at age 16; however, injuries and loss of form meant he was unable to break into the first team during his two-year spell with them despite making several substitute appearances.

Ascoli to Udinese
In 2006, Gianluca signed a four-year contract with Udinese Calcio. He spent season 2007–08 on loan at Ascoli Calcio 1898 in Serie B, where he scored 7 goals in 35 games, played a key role in Ascoli’s promotion to Serie A as they won their first historical promotion ever to Serie A and was subsequently bought back by Udinese. He is currently playing for Sassuolo after signing on loan from Cagliari of Serie A.
Udinese (loan)
From 2004 to 2005, Scamacca played for Udinese as a loaned player. He was just 16 years old when he debuted with Udinese in 2004 against Empoli. He scored his first goal in Serie A on 21 February 2005 against Roma. In June 2005, Udinese signed him permanently and sold 50% of his rights to Bologna.
Avellino loan
For 2013–14 season, Scamacca was loaned to Avellino. He scored a brace in his debut match for Avellino, a 3–0 victory over Gubbio. At Avellino, he became one of top-scorer for club and one of The best striker for Serie B at that time with 10 goals in 27 matches.
