I also have a deep-seated love of Horror and Thriller films, which is why I feel that writing in these genres is where my true talent lies. The best thing about being a screenwriter is the sheer range of opportunities on offer to you as a writer. If you want to write stories about all sorts of things, then it's up to you how you want to go about it; maybe you'll write sketches or short scripts or novels! It's up to you what your goals are as an artist and then everything else will fall into place accordingly. My Background as an Artist I am a screenwriter, actor and graphic designer who was born in Manchester and raised in London. I work mainly on female-driven stories that usually fall into the Horror or Thriller genres. Recently, I have placed as a finalist for Outstanding Screenplays Feature 2021, TSL Screenplay 2021 and Shore. This list is getting really long! Ria Fend - A Screenwriter Who Tells Engaging Stories How I Came to Write The first time I saw a movie, I was hooked. I decided from then on, that film would be my profession. I soon learned that to learn more about the industry and my interests, I had to get in front of the camera. And so I took up acting, which has led me to writing scripts for films with female leads. My love for horror films is evident when you look at my list of placements: Outstanding Screenplays Feature 2021, TSL Screenplay 2021 and Shore Do You Get Paid For Writing? Yes, Ria gets paid for writing. Her screenplays have been semifinalists in the TSL and Shore International competitions, with many more finalist placements. She has also made money from a number of her blog posts. In addition to writing scripts, she is an actor and graphic designer. Recently she finished filming a short horror film that she wrote called The Frightening Truth which will be screened at various festivals this year as well as being available on Vimeo On Demand. Ways To Pitch Your Script Writing a screenplay is hard work, but it can pay off if you are able to sell it. You need to know how to pitch your script in order to be successful. Pitch your screenplay to others with these three tips: 1) Know what genre the story falls under. Pitch horror movies differently than romantic comedies or dramas. 2) Know the title of the movie and what the plot is about (i.e., the main character and their goal). 3) Include some of the best scenes from the film (so they get an idea of what they would be in for). Don't Give Up On Your Dreams You're never too old to pursue your dream. If you're young and have a dream, take every opportunity that presents itself so that you can improve your skills. The same applies if you are an adult with a dream. You will never regret pursuing your dreams, even if it feels like it's taking too long or doesn't happen right away. Someday it will happen!
