There are other levels of minor league ball (High-A, Double-A and so on), but Triple-A is where you go after you’ve established yourself as one of the best players in your organization. Before playing for a professional team, he attended Wallace State Community College and played college baseball for two years. He was then drafted by his hometown San Diego Padres in 2007. In 2013, he led all major league relievers with a 0.78 ERA and became only the third pitcher in MLB history to have at least 50 saves in one season. In 2014, his 48 saves placed him second on that season’s list, and also earned him his first World Series championship as a member of Boston Red Sox.
