In 2005, at the age of 10, he threw for 3,500 yards and 50 touchdowns in 8-10 games played. In 2006, he led his team to a 5A State Championship. In 2008, he led Mesquite High School to its second consecutive state championship with a perfect 15-0 record while throwing over 2,000 yards and 34 touchdowns.
