David started his comedy career in 1978 and went on to have a very successful and varied career. He wrote for three popular sitcoms including Married… with Children, Roseanne, and Third Rock from the Sun, where he was also an actor and executive producer. Some of his credits include serving as head writer for the Academy Awards show for four years, writing screenplays for films such as Pretty Woman and Beethoven’s 3rd and hosting Comedy Central’s The Gong Show.

His family moved around a lot and so he moved to Princeton, New Jersey with his mother and stepfather in 1961 when he was 10 years old.
