My story so far
I have always been interested in acting since a young age, I was looking for my big break. In the 1990s my big break came when I had a TV series called ‘Out of Order’. I starred as Ben Corbett on the show which also starred Kylie Minogue and took some time out to live in England for five years. Now as an actor, you don’t know what’s next but one thing I do know is that you can’t plan anything because life doesn’t work like that.
Some stories from my life
I was born and raised in Canberra, Australia. I moved to Melbourne for about six months as an 18-year-old for acting school. I spent a year and a half living in New York City where I studied at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. When I returned home to Sydney, I auditioned for drama school, where I got accepted with a scholarship.
What inspires me
Ever since I was a kid, I wanted to be an actor. At the age of 8, I made my first school production and it was such a powerful feeling to know that you can bring something to life on stage that wouldn’t otherwise exist. My love for acting continued throughout high school where I participated in theatre, film and TV. When the time came for me to pick my career, there wasn’t any question what it would be: Acting!
10% Happier
Despite a complicated family history, I couldn’t be happier about where I am now. My first acting gig was starring in The Sydney Theatre Company’s production of The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde as Jack Worthing opposite Australian acting legend Richard Cawthorne. Life couldn’t get much better for me at the time!
Fun facts
Sam Delich was born in Sydney, Australia and grew up in Melbourne, Victoria. He attended Thomas Carr College Kew, Victoria where he obtained a VCE in music. Growing up he loved singing and acting. His first love was always singing though so after graduating he began his musical theatre degree at The Victorian College of the Arts under his birth name Saulo Dobric.
Lessons I have learned
The best lesson I have learned about acting is that to be the best, you have to be the best version of yourself. You are never too good or too professional for any role and a level professionalism and commitment goes hand in hand with dedication.
The other thing I have learned is that it’s all about what you put into something. What you will get out from anything depends on how much work and effort you are willing to put in – regardless if it’s your job or just something on the side.

Favorite quotes
A year ago, I wouldn’t have even given it a second thought to pursue acting as a career. But now that I am here, it’s going really well. – On life before being an actor I always felt like the outsider. People didn’t understand me and I had no one to relate too. Then when I was 13, my parents left for Croatia and my grandmother took over care of me and my sister. We had so much fun in those few years! She taught us all about our culture and we got closer with her then ever before.

sweetest time
Sam Delich was born in Australia. He has a sister named Lizzy who is his parents’ only daughter. His father was from Croatia and his mother was from Holland. Sam’s family had big traditions that he learned from as a child, so he always knows what to get his sister for Christmas or their birthdays because he understands how special that stuff can be for people.
first love
One of my passions has always been acting. I began my professional career at the age of eighteen, when I starred in the title role for a Disney Channel children’s show Legend Quest. This experience opened up a new world for me- being on set and working with adults in this industry who had so much knowledge and were also incredible artists. This opportunity was, by far, one of the most eye-opening and educational experiences I have ever been given.
first success
When his first project Dalmatian Damsel was completed and broadcast, he won a TV Commercial Award for Best Actor. He was nominated as Best Young Actor for the Stella Awards and Best Child Star, Hollywood Film Festival. Following this success, he was handpicked by Director Rupert Goold to star in LONDON ROAD. For more than five years now, Sam has been living in London where he has established himself on stage (first at the National Theatre) before going on to act at Shakespeare’s Globe and West End theaters such as The Old Vic and Leicester Square. Most recently, he appeared alongside Sir Kenneth Branagh in both parts of Henry V from Shakespeare’s original text.

dearest person
He was born and raised in Adelaide, South Australia and is the youngest child of Croatian immigrants, who arrived in 1954. Sam’s passion for performing developed at a young age as he participated in school and community theatre. He went on to study film making at USC as an undergraduate with a major in Screenwriting. As well as being a Writer/Director/Actor, he works as a Film Editor and Production Manager. His interest in filmmaking led him to train at AFTRS (Australian Film Television Radio School) where he studied writing, directing and editing.
