Gigi is an American with Iraqi origins who speaks fluent Arabic. She has a history of volunteering in developing countries including Ethiopia and Kenya, as well as domestically in New Orleans post-Hurricane Katrina. In 2015 she teamed up with UNICEF to help raise awareness for education from a refugee camp in Jordan. The result was her The Road Ahead UNICEF project, which documented her school visits with Syrian refugees. When she was sixteen years old, she was involved in a car accident with her mother. Both sustained injuries.
