David Scott Mustaine was born on September 13, 1961, in La Mesa, California. His father, John Mustaine, was a successful commercial artist, and his mother, Nancy Spinella-Mustaine, was a homemaker. When he was young, his parents divorced, and he was raised by his mother. He began playing guitar at the age of 13, and soon after formed his first band. David Scott Mustaine is an American musician. He is the co-founder, lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist and primary songwriter of the thrash metal band Megadeth, as well as their sole consistent member. In addition to Megadeth, he has also been involved with several other bands including Metallica, MD.45 and Otep.
