Lee Michael Zeldin was born on Long Island in 1980. The son of a Jewish mother and an African-American father, he grew up in a racially diverse neighborhood. After attending public schools, he went on to receive his undergraduate degree from the State University of New York at Albany in 2002. Political Career
Lee Michael Zeldin was born in New York in 1980 and raised on Long Island. A Republican, he has represented New York’s 1st congressional district in the United States House of Representatives since 2015. Prior to his election to Congress, Zeldin served in the New York State Senate from 2011 to 2015. He was also an officer in the United States Army Reserve, serving as a Judge Advocate General (JAG).
Zeldin is a strong supporter of President Donald Trump and was one of the few Jewish Republicans in Congress to vote for Trump’s impeachment. He is also a member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus. In 2019, he co-sponsored legislation that would criminalize abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy.

I was always interested in law and politics and knew that I wanted to pursue a career in one of those fields. After college, I worked for a few different law firms and realized that I loved the challenge of working in the legal field. I then decided to run for office and was elected to the House of Representatives in 2015.

1. The economy is still struggling to rebound from the recession.
2. Many Americans are still unemployed or underemployed.
3. The cost of living is rising, while wages remain stagnant.

I enjoy serving in the Army Reserve because it allows me to give back to my country in a unique way. I also appreciate the camaraderie and sense of purpose that comes with being a part of the military. Finally, I believe that serving in the Army Reserve is an excellent way to hone my skills as an attorney and politician.
