Sean Michael Casten (born July 1, 1968) is an American scientist and politician serving as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Illinois’s 6th congressional district since 2019. A Democrat, he was elected in 2018 to succeed Republican Peter Roskam. He previously represented Illinois’s 7th congressional district from 2019 to 2017.

Sean Patrick Casten was born on November 4, 1974 in Chicago, Illinois. As a child, he spent much of his time helping out at his father’s restaurant—the family business which has been an institution in Skokie for more than 50 years. He went to school at Niles West High School and later attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois from where he graduated with a degree in engineering.
