As a young man, Binotto completed his high school studies in electrical engineering. He would later attend one of Italy’s most prestigious universities where he studied automotive engineering. Later, after completing his post-graduate education, he decided to switch gears entirely and moved on to Formula One by joining Scuderia Ferrari as a test engineer. As time passed, he became an F1 team principal in 2019; just last week he signed with Scuderia Ferrari for five years.

Was Mattia Binotto a f1 driver?
No, he is not. He was named team principal of Scuderia Ferrari. No, he was not a Formula One driver. He was an engineer who worked in motorsport for many years before becoming technical director of Scuderia Ferrari in 2016. Most recently, as interim team principal, he oversaw Scuderia Ferrari’s run to victory at last year’s Formula One World Championship. Now, with Maurizio Arrivabene having left his role as team principal following that success, Binotto has been appointed to take over permanently.
How long has Mattia Binotto been with Ferrari?
The Maranello outfit announced on January 7 that Binotto would succeed Maurizio Arrivabene as team principal, a role he had held on an interim basis since July.
