Adam Daniel Kinzinger (born February 24, 1976) is an American politician serving as the U.S. representative for Illinois’s 16th congressional district. The district covers eastern Rockford, most of Rockford’s suburbs, and a swath of exurban territory around Chicago. He is a member of the Republican Party and was first elected to Congress in 2010, taking office on January 3, 2011 after defeating Democratic incumbent Debbie Halvorson in the November 2nd general election with 50% of the vote.
