Jack Joseph Wagner (born March 10, 1960) is an American soap opera actor, singer, composer, producer, director and writer. He is best known for his Emmy-nominated role as Jack Kelly on The Bold and the Beautiful. His other television credits include Santa Barbara and General Hospital. Wagner was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His father worked for a steel mill, his mother was a homemaker. He has one sister who is three years younger than he is. While growing up in Pittsburgh, he attended Winchester Thurston School of Creative and Performing Arts (now a part of The Winchester Thurston School). He later studied theater at Point Park University as well as education at Ohio State University where he took summer courses through their Education Abroad Program that took him to Cusco, Peru. When he was ten years old, his family moved to Houston, Texas. His father had been drafted by a sports team in America. He got good grades and was into drama at school. While in high school, he played American football as a linebacker.

Wagner attended Palisades High School in Pacific Palisades, California, where he lettered in swimming. He majored in sports medicine at Pepperdine University. After graduating from Pepperdine University with a degree in sports medicine, he enrolled at Santa Monica College as a pre-med student.
