Richard C. Irvin was born in Chicago, Illinois to David and Dorothy Irvin. He received his undergraduate degree from University of Illinois and his Master’s from Roosevelt University. Before entering politics, he taught at high schools in both Illinois and Texas for 16 years, as well as served on a number of committees in Aurora city government over an 18-year period starting when he was 24 years old.[2]
