Jacob Todd Odorizzi was born to Jim and Michele Odorizzi on April 23, 1989 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. A Florida Marlins fan growing up, Jacob took up pitching as a child. He attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale where he continued to pursue his interest in baseball and played for their varsity team from 2005 to 2007. In 2007, he led his team to win a state championship title with a record of 18-4.
Youth Career
Odorizzi attended Santa Fe High School in Edinburg, Texas. As a junior, he went 8–1 with a 0.87 earned run average (ERA) and 90 strikeouts in innings pitched as he led his team to win district and regional championships. He went 10–2 with a 1.29 ERA and 120 strikeouts as a senior for Santa Fe, which won its third consecutive district championship.
