Growing up, David played multiple sports including football and basketball and even starred on a select basketball team that won a national championship while he was still in high school.

The first time I stepped on a major league field, it felt very surreal. I’ve been dreaming about playing baseball since I was a little kid and to finally get to experience something so special was a dream come true.

I enjoy following my teammates on Twitter. One of my favorites is Kole Calhoun because he always has interesting things to say about baseball and life in general. But there are several guys that I really enjoy getting to know through social media, and we get along really well despite never having met face-to-face. Marcus Semien is one of those guys, who can make me laugh on almost any given day. He’s a great guy to have as a teammate and a friend.

David practices fielding whenever he can, whether that means taking grounders with a teammate or practicing his footwork in front of a mirror. He puts much of his focus on perfecting his throwing mechanics.
What advice would he give to other aspiring players?
To aspiring players, I would recommend they stay focused and determined on their goals. It is a long road to make it to The Show; you need to be strong both mentally and physically. To me, baseball is 90% mental and 10% physical. No matter how good you are as a player, if you’re not there mentally you will not succeed at playing in The Show.
