Demaryius Antwon Thomas (February 14, 1988 – October 12, 2017) was an American football wide receiver. He played in the National Football League (NFL) for ten seasons, primarily with the Denver Broncos. He played college football for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and was drafted by the Broncos in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft. Early Life
Demaryius was born in Savannah, Georgia. He attended Lowndes High School in Valdosta, Georgia where he played for the Yellow Jackets high school football team. He caught 54 passes for 1,039 yards and 13 touchdowns as a senior. College career
Demaryius attended Georgia Tech and became one of their best receivers ever. He was inducted into Georgia Tech’s Hall of Fame in 2015. During his time at Georgia Tech he set school records for receptions (229), receiving yards (3,353) and touchdown catches (26). He finished second all-time in college football history with 3,753 all-purpose yards from scrimmage.

He attended Annie R. Morgan Elementary School in Dacula, Georgia, and then Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery. He played for coach Randy Allen at Lanier High. In his senior year he was captain of the team and rushed for 1,033 yards with 10 touchdowns on offense and had two interceptions on defense along with 35 tackles. On offense he played as a wide receiver while on defense he played as a cornerback or safety.

To date, Thomas has caught 586 passes for 7,903 yards and 56 touchdowns in his NFL career. He has been selected to three Pro Bowls and named first-team All-Pro twice.
Post Retirement Activities
After retiring from professional football at age 29 due to a neck injury, Demaryius returned to Georgia Tech as an executive MBA student. After graduating in 2017 with his class, he has been working with both retired athletes and young players to assist them in creating financial literacy plans. He is currently working on ways to expand his program beyond Georgia Tech.
