Jill Biden, born Jill Tracy Jacobs, is an American educator and the current first lady of the United States as the wife of President Joe Biden. Jill’s husband, Neilia Hunter was killed in a car accident on September 29, 1972. They had married in December 1971 after meeting at Delaware State College, where Jill had been teaching since 1968 and Neilia was a student. They were riding together with another couple when Neilia lost control of her vehicle, which careened into an embankment and overturned. Both she and another passenger were thrown from the car; she died almost instantly upon impact while her passenger survived his injuries.
